General FAQs

Q: I lost my password! What do I do?

A: Go here to have your password reset. You will need access to the email address you set for your account in order to do this.

Q: What do I need to play games on this site?

A: All you need is Javascript enabled in your web browser (the default in most cases). If you want sound and music to work, you will need Adobe Flash 7 or higher (we recommend the latest version for your system). You can see what version of Flash you have installed, and get info on the latest one available for your system, here.

Q: Why does the page scroll around when I move?

A: This happens when the game you are playing is trying to display more than the browser window can show at one time. Usually browsers associate the arrow keys with scrolling a page, so if you are using the arrow keys to move and the page is too big, the browser will scroll the page. In order to allow for as much detail as possible on larger screens, our site allows three different 'resolution' selections: low, medium, and high/max. These selections are available either at our main website in the form of three buttons, or any page on our main site from the menu on the left side of the page.

Try changing to 'medium' or 'low' resolution, and play the game again (if you still have the game open, you will need to refresh the page the game is in). If that doesn't work, you may have too many toolbars in your browser. Try turning some of them off. Another workaround is to put your browser into 'full screen' or 'kiosk' mode. Information on getting into this mode varies depending on the browser you are using. For Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera, pressing F11 should toggle full screen mode on and off.

Q: What are friends and how do I manage them?

A: Friends are currently used to compare scores with other Elusive Games players. You can add and remove friends (up to 30 currently) by going to the Friends section of the website. You need to know the name of the player you wish to add as a friend. Once you have a friend, you can compare your scores with theirs.

Q: What are records and how do I get/view them?

A: Every game of Plunge! and Sludge Busters you play while logged in is recorded in our site. Only purchasers of Lands of Kachitoria have their games recorded for that game. To view your records, go to the Records section of the website. If you have friends associated with your account, you have the option of comparing your records with those friends by clicking the "Compare Friend's Records" button on the record you want to compare. Note that if your friends have not played the game or specific game mode that you are comparing, they will not show up in the list.

Q: Why does sound or music in games have a delay?

A: Some delay in the music is inevitable due to the nature of the technology used. Delays in sound may be from having an older version of the Flash plugin installed for your browser. You can see what version of Flash you have installed, and get info on the latest one available for your system, here.

Q: Why isn't sound and music playing?

A: First, make sure you have Flash installed. You can see what version of Flash you have installed, and get info on the latest one available for your system, here. Second, this may be caused by your browser (or addons/extensions in your browser) blocking the flash utility used to play sound from functioning (the flashblock extension for firefox, for example).

Q: Why are some of my custom keys not working?

A: Some keys or key combinations are used by the browser or the operating system to do special functions. These keys might not work properly in the game. Try setting different keys.

Q: How can I get the maps to load faster?

A: There are four image quality settings available for the maps: low, medium, high, and max. 'Low' has the smallest file size, so it will transfer from our server faster than 'max' maps. If you are on a dialup connection, try the 'low' or 'medium' settings.

Website FAQs

Q: What does 'Low Res.', 'Medium Res.', and 'High Res.' do?

A: Our website and games are currently available in three sizes: low, medium, and high resolution. All images and text on the site and games are scaled to match the chosen resolution, with 'low' having the smallest images, and 'high' having the largest. If this size appears too large on your display, then you will need to use one of the lower resolutions. We realize that the sizes chosen are not optimal for all people, and we will be adding more options in the future as we see demand.
